Lib Tech - Cold Brew - Snowboard Review

So, I took the plunge and upgraded my gear. After researching various boards, I decided on the Lib Tech Cold Brew snowboard for this seasons ride. Let’s go over my experience with this board, covering its strengths, weaknesses, and how it compares to other options in the market.

The Lib Tech Cold Brew is a versatile all-mountain snowboard that caters to a broad range of riders but it’s designed for intermediate to advanced snowboard

ers, it excels in various conditions, making it an ideal choice for me since I enjoy cruising groomed runs while having the capability to handle more challenging terrains with the occasional trip to the terrain park.

The directional shape of the Cold Brew, with a slight setback stance, enhances its performance in powder, giving a stable yet surfy feel. This made it a great choice for people who, like me, like to explore different areas of the mountain and want a board that can handle everything from steep slopes to killer park sessions.

I decided to buy the Lib Tech Cold Brew because of its combination of positive reviews, its reputation as a versatile all-mountain board, and the specific features that align with my riding style. Having spent most of my time at Heavenly Mountain Resort in California, where conditions can vary, I was seeking a board that could handle groomers with ease but also offer the performance

I needed for occasional park sessions and powder days.

The Cold Brew's C2X profile has a combination of camber and rocker, which caught my attention. The hybrid profile provides the stability and edge hold of traditional camber while maintaining the playful and forgiving nature of rocker. It seemed like the perfect blend for my style, offering the precision I needed for carving groomers and the float I wanted for those deep powder days.

In my search for the ideal snowboard, I considered several alternatives, including the Burton Custom, Arbor Element, and the Never Summer Proto Type Two. Each of these boards had its merits, but the Cold Brew stood out for a few key reasons.

The Burton Custom is a classic, known for versatility, but I found the Cold Brew's hybrid profile and slightly setback stance more appealing, especially for powder days. The Arbor Element, while environmentally friendly and well-regarded for its design, didn't match the Cold Brew's reputation for aggressive all-mountain performance. The Never Summer Proto Type Two was a strong contender, but the Cold Brew's camber-rocker hybrid seemed to offer a better balance between stability and playfulness.

I’ll list some of the pros here:

  1. Versatility: The Cold Brew shines in various conditions, from groomed runs to powder and even in the terrain park.

  2. C2X Profile: The hybrid camber-rocker profile provides the best of both worlds – the stability and edge control of camber and the playfulness of rocker.

  3. Magne-Traction: The serrated edges enhance edge hold on icy slopes, providing confidence-inspiring control.

  4. Durable Construction: Lib Tech is renowned for its durable, eco-friendly construction, ensuring the board's longevity.

  5. Slight Setback Stance: The directional shape and setback stance enhance powder performance, making it enjoyable in deeper snow.

Although not many, I did notice some cons that I listed also.

  1. Stiffness: Some riders might find the Cold Brew a bit on the stiffer side, impacting its playfulness for certain tricks in the park.

  2. Price: The Cold Brew is an investment, and while the quality justifies the cost, it might be on the higher end of the budget for some riders.

How Does It Compare to Similar Snowboards?

Compared to similar snowboards in its category, the Lib Tech Cold Brew holds its own. When pitted against the Burton Custom, it offers a more aggressive feel and enhanced powder performance. In comparison to the Arbor Element, the Cold Brew provides a better balance between versatility and environmental considerations. While the Never Summer Proto Type Two is a strong contender, the Cold Brew's C2X profile gives it a slight edge in terms of stability and edge control.

In conclusion, the Lib Tech Cold Brew is a stellar choice for riders seeking a high-performance, all-mountain snowboard. Its versatility, coupled with the unique C2X profile and Magne-Traction technology, sets it apart in the market. While it might not be the most forgiving board for beginners, intermediate to advanced riders looking for a powerful and playful ride will appreciate what the Cold Brew brings to the table. Despite a few minor drawbacks, the overall experience and performance of the Cold Brew make it a valuable addition to any snowboarder's quiver, especially for those who want to explore everything from groomed slopes to the untouched powder in the backcountry.
